I do not own a food mill, so peeled the apples, chooped, cooked and mashed in a large bowl. When the time came to put "exactly five cups of fruit" back in the pan to return to cooking, there was closer to just shy 4 cups. I carried on and the recipe turned out very well, although we did adjust the sugard accordingly down to 4 1/2 cups to compensate for the fruit. Next time, I will add seven cups of apples initially, to be sure I have sufficent quantity. Otherwise, good recipe, thank you.
