This recipe was perfect for our 4th of July barbecue. However, half of my stars disappeared on the drive over. So if I make it again, I will definitely do all of the topping at the final destination or leave the cookie cutters on for the ride. However, I made the top look nice, no one knew, and everyone loved it!

My daughter had fun decorating this cake for Independence day. We used star shapped short cake cookes w/white iceing instead of the cookie cutters. It was easier and looked great! Lots of compliments on the flavor as well as the creative look.

My best friends bday is on the 4th, she doesn't like birthday cakes, so every year I have to come up with something other than a regular old cake. This year I picked this and it was a hit!! Everyone loved it! I thought it was a bit too sweet, so next time I don't think I will add the sugar into the crust. But other than that it was very very yummy!!

I make this every single 4th of July. Even bought all different sizes of star cookie cutters and found tiny ones used for cutting clay at a craft store. Makes this cake so festive and looks difficult but is super easy, but super rich and sweet. I use strawberry preserves as jam is just too expensive. My family wouldn't let me have a 4th without this cake now. My sons can't wait, we are making it together today.

found the strawberry jam on top a little too sticky and didn't use this the 2nd time. Maybe I used the wrong kind of jam. My husband loved this "pie" and I will definitely make it many times.

Very easy to make and tastes awesome. Everyone loved it and I got a lot of compliments. Even beginners will have an easy time with this recipe
