I got TONS of compliments on this recipe. SO awesome and well worth it. Time consuming the first time around when not familiar with the recipe, but will be easier the next time I think.

This cake is delicious! I'm not a great baker but the directions were easy to follow and everyone loved it! This recipe does make a ton of cake though, which is bad because now I have no choice but to eat it!

My Mom used to make this cake when I was a child it was a favorite then too. I was able to share this family recipe with my children and now it is their favorite! We use a ganache frosting though!!!

My dad's favorite cake is German chocolate, so for his birthday I made him this recipe. It was a little tedious (as I am not an avid from-scratch cake maker) but it was really good and I didn't mess it up! I was surprised. SO yummy. Definitely do the three levels.

My sister and I are 3 years apart, (both born in March) and every year for about 50 years this is the ONLY cake we ever want!! It has become a tradition, she makes the filling, I bake the cake, we LOVE this cake...we take one bite and already decide we want another piece!!!

It's the best!!! Make sure to use the coconut pecan frosting that goes with it.

My grandma always made this for my grandpa in the 60s and 70s. She would bake it in a 9x13 and then freeze individual pieces for his lunch pail. I have always loved this cake and have made it for my mom's birthday every year since around 1980. She requests it every year. Her birthday is right around the corner, and I'll be making it for her 70th!

I have made this particular recipe for 30 odd years. It has never failed me and always turns out to be the best cake ever. I would never use another German Chocolate Cake recipe.
