My mom started making this years ago..its the best chocolate cake I ever tasted. I now make it for holidays and special occasions..very very moist and the frosting is excellent!

Everybody I know says my brother is the 'cook' of the family, but I am the baker. They are always asking me to bake for them. I made this cake for hubby's B'Day, as a German Choc cake is his absolute favorite of all sweets. My hubby raved on & on about it! My nephew tried it, & asked me to PLEASE make him one - he said it was the 'most awesomest' cake he has ever tasted - he is 24 yrs old. I made him 1 & his entire family, i.e., wife, mother & father-in-law, neighbors, etc. raved on & on about it! He said I should make it for a bake sale, that he guaranteed it would be the biggest hit of all! It is sooooo very moist, tasty, yummy. I have made 5 of these - as someone else stated, WATCH THE TIME! It will over-cook at the time stated!

I made this cake for a family picnic. Even people who don't usually like German Chocolate cake liked this one. It was much better than I expected. This is definitely one I will make again!

A little less choco taste than the regular box cake mix. made the frosting too. less coconut next time

I am 41 years old and I grew up on this cake. My mom made this cake every holiday. My mom had a reputation for how well she baked cakes and this was one of the best and my favorite. Being the baby of the family, single and no children (spoiled rotten) I took for granted that I would always have mom around to prepare this cake and her other wonderful dishes for the holidays. I started trying to learn some of her famous dishes in the past 10 years but didnt take it very seriously. Well I lost my mom last year and this recipe is about the only one I have mastered. The is a special cake to me and I thank you for such a great recipe and the memories
