Country Time® is the “Official Lemonade of Alex’s Lemonade Stand.” Alex’s Lemonade Stand was started by a little girl named Alex Scott who had the dream of raising money for children’s cancer research. Alex was able to raise over $1.5 million in 2004. Information on Alex and Alex’s Lemonade Stand can be found at www.alexslemonade.org

3. I’ve had my COUNTRY TIME® Drink Mix in my pantry for a while. How can I tell if it has expired?
Some canisters of COUNTRY TIME® Drink Mix have what is called a Julian Code Date. This coding information can be found on the canisters or in the blue box on the sugar free canisters.
A Julian Code Date is the date the product was manufactured. An example of a Julian Code would be:

4337D209:29CB

In this example, the "4," designates the year (2004), the next three digits "337," designate the 337th day of the year. So we know this product was manufactured on December 3, 2004.
Unopened, COUNTRY TIME® Drink Mix has a shelf life of 24 months. this particular canister will remain fresh until December 3, 2006.
Other canisters of Country Time® have a standard expiration date on them. An example of this would be:

BEST WHEN USED BY

07FEB2006 D3 10:14 CP

This canister will remain fresh until February 7, 2006.

4. How should COUNTRY TIME® be stored?
Our COUNTRY TIME® Drink Mix should be stored in a cool, dry place, such as your pantry. If unopened, COUNTRY TIME® Drink Mix has a shelf life of up to 24 months. For optimum quality, we suggest using the product within two months after opening.

5. How should COUNTRY TIME® Drink Mix be stored once it’s been prepared?
Once the sugar sweetened product is prepared, it will keep up to 4 days in the refrigerator.
If you prepare the sugar free product, we suggest consuming it within 2 days because of the aspartame in the product.

6. Why don’t you recommend storing prepared COUNTRY TIME® in a metal container?
Because of the citric acid content in the product, we do not recommend storing it in a metal container. When a product containing citric acid is stored in a metal container, the product may take on a metallic taste. The use of a metal spoon to mix the product would be fine because of the limited contact with the product.
In order to enjoy your COUNTRY TIME® Drink Mix and have it deliver a delicious taste, we recommend using a non-metal container.

7. Can I prepare one glass at a time instead of a pitcher?
If you would like to prepare your sugar sweetened COUNTRY TIME® one glass at a time, we suggest adding one heaping tablespoon of drink mix per 8 ounces of cold water. Add ice and stir to dissolve. Enjoy! To prepare your sugar free COUNTRY TIME® one glass at a time, we suggest adding approximately 1/2 teaspoon to 8 fluid ounces of cold water. Add ice and stir to dissolve.
You may want to adjust the amount of drink mix added to suit your personal preference.

8. What is the caffeine content in the COUNTRY TIME® Lemonade Iced Teas?
Lemonade Iced Teas contain only 11 mg caffeine per serving. (80% less than brewed coffee. Brewed coffee contains 65-120 mg of caffeine per serving.)

9. Looking at the list of COUNTRY TIME® ingredients, what is meant by "natural flavors?"
When you read that a product contains "natural flavor," it means that the flavor is made using an essential oil, essence or extract taken from a natural source like a spice, fruit or plant. In other words, the flavor is not synthetically manufactured.

10. Under the list of ingredients for Sugar Free COUNTRY TIME® Drink Mixes, what is meant by "PHENYLKETONURICS: CONTAINS PHENYLALANINE"?
Phenylalanine is an amino acid present in aspartame. A very small percentage of the population (referred to as phenylketonurics or PKU) cannot metabolize the amino acid phenylalanine, which is present in the protein of many foods. Phenylketonurics must control total intake of phenylalanine from all food sources, including common foods such as poultry and milk. People who have phenylketonuria were identified with the condition at birth. That's why we label all aspartame sweetened products with this statement to alert people with PKU that phenylalanine is present in the aspartame. The vast majority of people do not have this inherited disorder and need not be concerned about the phenylalanine in aspartame (APM).
