Sales Representative
Customer Category Manager, Oscar Mayer

Customer Category Manager, Oscar Mayer

I could never sell what I wouldn't buy myself. That's one of the reasons I work for Kraft.

I came to Kraft after I got my bachelor's degree in Economics because I wanted to work for a consumer goods company. I knew the products as a consumer, and I wanted to be associated with a strong company with quality products. I must admit I was surprised by the number of products Kraft makes! Before I joined Kraft I had no idea there were so many!

I've been with Kraft for just over five years. I began as a Region Trainee and then became a Sales Representative in St. Louis and then later in Chicago. After that I was a Retail Category Manager in Madison, and now I'm a Customer Category Manager for our Oscar Mayer products.

I knew when I joined Kraft that relocation was a key part of working in Sales. I've enjoyed moving around and getting to know the accounts in different cities. Every region has its own preferences and personalities. You develop more skill sets by being exposed to all the differences.

In my current job as a Customer Category Manager, I'm servicing accounts by focusing on one of our brands: Oscar Mayer. I work with meat buyers to discuss new product presentations, customer service coordinators to manage logistics, and marketing to develop and execute promotions. As I prove myself, I'd like to become a Retail Sales Manager, with a team of Sales Representatives reporting to me. Eventually, I might move into a Sales Category Planning position, working with our Marketing divisions. Kraft management is very supportive of your career goals and will work with you to help you reach them. There's opportunity everywhere.

Our customers really look to us to provide expertise on many aspects of the food industry. They know that we're tuned in to new directions and trends in the different food categories. Kraft's reputation gives us a distinct advantage in the field. It's a reputation we have justly earned with consistent, quality products that consumers enjoy and have come to trust. It's a good feeling to represent quality.
