I work in Kraft's Global Technology & Quality Center on product development and design. It's very rewarding to work in food technology at Kraft. It is great to see all the end products I helped to create.

I chose to major in Food Process Engineering at Purdue because the food industry offers challenges that aren't run-of-the-mill. I wanted to work on projects that would challenge me as an engineer and as a scientist. Our challenge is to continue to produce high quality foods that are tasteful, appealing, and profitable.

If any company is prepared for those challenges, it's Kraft. We have the technical resources, the experience and the funding. But the most important element we have is our drive. We’re striving to be the undisputed leader of our industry. Everyone at Kraft is driven to be the best.

In the two years I have been with the company I have never had a 'typical' day. One day I might be working at our pilot plant on a new product or process. The next day I’m making a presentation to senior management and contributing to business decisions. Later that week, I might make a presentation to high school students about careers in the food industry.

I've had the opportunity to work on a variety of projects and research since I've been at Kraft. We're encouraged to pursue new ideas all the time. In fact, I'd say that more than half of our new products and product ideas originated in Global Technology & Quality. Sometimes, an experiment that's headed in one direction leads to an entirely new product idea. Whenever there's an opportunity to pursue a new idea, we're on top of it.
