Sr. Associate Brand Manager,  Oscar Mayer

If someone had told me two years ago that I'd be managing at my level in my first year out of graduate school, I never would have believed them. The responsibilities at Kraft are there. They're real. And they're given to you from day one.

I don't think that you can match the experiences and responsibilities that you get in Marketing at Kraft. But what's really great is that you're not left alone. In fact, it's just the opposite. You get the help you need to achieve results and perform well. Everyone wants you to succeed.

I got to know Kraft as an intern at Oscar Mayer in Madison. I knew then that this was the place I wanted to build my career. The people are intelligent; they're great managers; and they're fun to be around. The brands are strong. And the challenges and responsibilities are there. But the element that made a difference to me goes beyond the growth opportunities and the people. It's the excitement. It's fun to work here! The pace is fast, and there's a certain energy to the atmosphere.

One of the things that sets Kraft apart is our emphasis on employee development. Management makes sure that you take time to focus on your long-term goals and what you need to do to achieve those goals. Development here means a lot more than going off to a training program. Most of our development activities come in the form of new projects or membership on a task force or other on-the-job activities.

We also have training to help us develop our expertise in marketing and in general management skills. At the end of every year, I sit down with my manager to plan my goals for the year ahead. We talk about my role in moving the business forward. We also talk about what I need to do to move me forward in my career.
