There were two things that were important to me when I was looking for a career in Finance: a team work environment and quality people. I found both of them at Kraft. A team environment is very important to me. I feel very strongly that members of teams compliment each other and create a whole that's greater than the sum of its parts. I had worked in teams in graduate school and also in my four years at a Big Six firm. I wanted to make sure that I found a company that valued the dynamics of a team environment. At Kraft, not only do we perform better on teams, but we also learn from each other's experiences and perspectives. Another reason I chose Kraft was the breadth of the Finance function. There are so many directions that I can go with my career. That's why I pursued a career in corporate finance rather than go back to a Big Six after I got my MBA. As part of a corporation I get to learn a lot about one company and its systems. With an accounting firm you learn a little about many different companies. But the range of opportunities at Kraft is so broad, that you can learn a tremendous amount about one company without sacrificing variety.

Right now I support the Operations area of our Foodservice division. Foodservice produces many of the products that we make and sell to our retail customers, but our customers are foodservice operators and distributors. Our role in Finance is to provide the financial information needed to run the manufacturing end of the Foodservice business - everything from identifying and understanding manufacturing costs to tracking capital project expenses.

I interact with many of the other functions at Kraft. For example, I work with our Purchasing area regarding commodities costs and our engineers on the potential profitability of different projects. We're all advisers to each other. The team environment at Kraft extends far beyond each department. It's part of our culture.
