Manager, Trade Deal Administration
I wanted to work for a consumer goods organization rather than for a consulting firm or financial institution because I wanted to be associated with a company that produced tangible end products. Beyond that, I didn't want to have travel and time commitments that were out of balance.
We work hard at Kraft. We get the job done. But we understand when it's time to go home. Kraft management places a lot of emphasis on work and life balance. They know that if you're not happy outside of work, it's going to affect your performance on the job. That kind of an attitude is important.
Another thing that drew me to Kraft was the working environment. The team-based atmosphere is great. Everyone is striving for common goals. We're all contributing our expertise to help build brands and grow the business. There is respect among professionals. But there is also a mutual respect between employees and employer. You don't see that at a lot of companies.
In my current position, I manage a team that's responsible for providing funds to our Sales group to use for marketing products and negotiating deals with our customers. We need to understand all aspects of the business so that we can provide solid assistance to Sales.
Kraft gives you the tools to be successful. What you do with them is up to you. We have a series of leadership and training programs geared specifically to Finance professionals. The seminars teach new members of Finance about the Kraft environment and help seasoned professionals develop their skills. At Kraft, learning and development are key activities. Everyone is expected to take responsibility for their growth and development.
Many Finance professionals move into other functions in the company. It's not uncommon for someone from Finance to go into the Marketing or Sales group. I think that I'd like to stay in the Finance area, though, and expand my knowledge by working with a different client group, such as Operations. There are so many career possibilities. You don't have to leave the organization to gain experience. It's all right here.
