Remember these simple tips to help protect and prepare your kids for everyday adventure—and see how much fun playing it safe can be.
Keep your cool. Drink fluids such as water or
CAPRI SUN Sport during physical activity to help quench your thirst and stay hydrated. Be sure to drink a variety of beverages including water, milk, juice, and juice drinks to meet your daily fluid intake.
Use your head. Always have your child wear a helmet when biking, rollerblading, or riding a scooter. The helmet should sit on top of their head, with the bottom two-finger widths above your eyebrows. The strap should be fastened with room for only one finger inside the strap.
Swim safely. Before your kids take the plunge, remember that water safety comes first. Never leave your kids unattended at the pool and make sure kids understand pool rules clearly.
Warm up. It's not a good idea for kids to just bolt on to the field and start playing. They shouldn't even start stretching until they're warmed up a little. So have them take a light jog to get loosened up and ready to play.
Gear up. Make sure your kids are protected by wearing the correct gear for each sport.
Back off. Most doctors and physical therapists recommend that kids carry no more than 10% to 15% of their body weight in their packs—whether going to school or hitting the trails.
Block it. Apply sunscreen with an SPF of at least 30 about 20 minutes before going out in the sun and remember that waterproof sunscreen needs to be reapplied after towel drying.
