In the spirit of sharing special occasions with family and friends, BAKER'S invites all those with a passion for chocolate to help us celebrate our 225th Anniversary. And who better to help begin this celebration than pastry chef Marcel Desaulniers. This well-known chocolatier is the executive chef of the Trellis Restaurant in Williamsburg, Va. A graduate of the Culinary Institute of America, Marcel has received several awards, including the James Beard Award for Outstanding Pastry Chef in America. He has also written several books, most notably his Death by Chocolate series.

Inspired by childhood memories of BAKER'S Chocolate, Marcel developed a signature 225th Anniversary Cake, created especially for America's Oldest Chocolate Brand. Worthy of our BAKER'S Chocolate heritage, this special recipe has two moist layers of chocolate cake with a rich, delicious fudge frosting that only Marcel could create. Anniversary Cake Recipe

Bakers ReserveThis holiday season, in celebration of our 225th anniversary, the Baker's Chocolate portfolio is expanding to include two new, limited-edition items: Baker's Reserve 225th Anniversary Bar and Baker's Real Semi-Sweet Chocolate Shavings.

The latest addition to our extensive line of baking chocolates, the Baker's Reserve 225th Anniversary Bar is a premium dark chocolate bar containing 70 percent cacao. As chocolate connoisseurs know, the higher the cacao content, the more intense chocolate flavor you'll achieve in homemade desserts. We have even developed a collection of recipes with the 225th Anniversary Bar in mind, the Baker's Reserve Dark Chocolate Recipe collection. A selection of these recipes is below.

In 1870, Walter Baker & Company produced the first Baker's Chocolate recipe booklet. What began as a simple, 12-page pamphlet grew into the most sought-after company giveaway by the early 1900s, with annual, full-color illustrated cookbooks. To commemorate this rich heritage, a new 100-page Baker's Chocolate recipe booklet will be available in October at grocery and mass merchandise checkout aisles nationwide. "Baker's: A Passion for Chocolate" will contain 40 delicious chocolate dessert recipes with color photographs of each, from classics like German Chocolate Cake to our signature One Bowl Chocolate Bliss Cookies, and from fun gift-giving recipes to "showstoppers" - including the 225th Anniversary Cake created especially for Baker's by famous pastry chef Marcel Desaulniers.
